Our Creative chief, Ben Golik, has been selected as one of 12 queer artists to have work shown at the Creative Pride. Loud. Proud. Now exhibition.
The show, being staged on Carnaby Street by independent art store We Built This City, will run throughout Pride month.
Ben said of the opportunity, “I’m thrilled to have been invited to participate alongside artists I’ve long loved, such as Fredde Lanka, Jack Oliver Coles and Cressida Djambov.”
“The work I created started as a response to the mindless rainbow-washing by so many corporations this time of year. I wanted to use the same colour-way to tell the stories of the people behind Pride.”
“Increased visibility is great, but we can’t always be reduced to colourful stripes. There are more interesting stories to tell.”
“Using typography gave me the chance to tell personal stories of why we are proud, and bring to life the sort of journeys many of us look back on – and push forward with – at this time of year.”
The exhibition at We Built This City runs until 7 July at 56B Carnaby Street, London. 10% of proceeds from sales will go to the LGBTQ+ charity, Opening Doors London.
